Last season I trialed the most rugged daypack I've ever seen and found it holds all the essentials you need for a serious days duck hunting, apart from
decoys. Perfect for when we hunt the big water like wading out into lakes where you want your hands free. We hunt out of exposed maimais where
gear storage is often compromised, so a pack you can hang on a hook or tree branch clear of the ground and dogs is a big plus. Big water hunts best in
bad weather, and when the wind gets up or a rain-front passes through, the action can be
worth the effort. Of course, you don't want your gear to get wet or to run out of anything
if the ducks are flying, especially ammo and tucker or a hot drink to ward off the elements.
The Arc-Welded Backpack is so strong you can load it up with as much weight as you
are prepared to carry. Typically for me preparing for a big day I'll take - 100 rounds of 3"
36grm ammo, 1L Stanley flask, Stanley no-spill drinking mug, lunchbox, earmuffs, gloves,
rain hat, knife, duck calls, 10x42 binos, dog lead, head lamp, GME radio (if mates nearby),
duck straps, etc. The Arc-Welded pack is very basic in design, but this is a positive
because no-frills means it's rugged. It's frameless but easy to load as the camo material
it's constructed from is so strong it's virtually free-standing. Externally for organising
key items it has 2 side pockets and a rear pocket. One side pocket is more suitable for
valuables as it has a waterproof zip, the other is finished in stretch-netting which while
not waterproof, keeps things held in place. The back pocket is similar. The waist-strap
and adjustable harness system is as rugged and as well built as the rest of the pack. I've
saved one of the best features for last. The top of the main compartment closure is a
roll-over system with heavy duty clasp (dry bag style), meaning you can seal the bag
from the elements, keeping everything dry. And if you wondered where the 'arc-welded'
name is derived from, it's the seam-sealing method Banded use to minimise stitching and
maximise waterproofing. Priced at only $179.99 originally from $199.99, this is a unique
