Make a cross bench 9. Create the legs STEP 5: PRE-DRILL SCREW HOLES STEP 9: CREATE THE LEGS To attach the arms, you’ll need a Ryobi 18V ONE+ drill driver. Pre-drill 4mm holes in the base 50mm from the edges. Space the holes about 100mm apart. Screw the sides into the base. Measure and cut four legs about 300mm long, cutting each end on a parallel 45-degree angle. Check they’re equal so your chair won’t wobble. Pre-drill holes in the tops of the legs, then screw them into the cross bench ends using 8G x 40mm stainless steel decking screws. Make sure they’re flush. Turn the chair over and screw the cross bench with legs onto the base STEP 6: CUT THE BACKBOARD Lay the structure on its edge over the remaining piece of project panel and trace its outline. This will ensure the backboard has the right dimensions. Use your Ryobi circular saw to cut along the lines, then check the backboard fits flush. STEP 7: ATTACH THE BACKBOARD Next, pre-drill 4mm holes (about 100mm apart) into the backboard, then screw it into place. STEP 8: MAKE A CROSS BENCH You’ll need a weight-distributing ‘cross bench’ that attaches to the chair legs and base. With the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 184mm Mitre Saw, cut two panels slightly shorter than the length of the base, then cut a 45-degree angle on all ends. Cut another two pieces to 400mm, then screw them to the longer pieces to make the rectangular cross bench. STEP 10: BRING IT ALL TOGETHER Flip the finished chair back over, add comfy cushions, choose a scenic spot and sit back to enjoy your masterpiece! @RyobiAU @ryobiau Now watch the video Want to watch this project come to life?
