INSPIRATION: SERENE GREEN
To capture a feeling of
serenity, look to nature.
Green is easy on the eyes
and gentle on the psyche.
Stylist Fiona Gould says
a soft shade of green is
the perfect backdrop for
an office space that will
help you to feel calm and
centred. “It’s the colour
equivalent of three deep
breaths,” she says. For
the most soothing effect,
opt for blue-based,
rather than yellow-based,
greens – deep emerald
or turquoise are more
calming than zesty lime.

could help lift your spirits. These warm
shades can also encourage creativity
– handy if you work in a creative field
and rely on blasts of brilliance.
If you’ll be greeting clients in your
home office or holding regular video
meetings, you might want a colour
with more gravity – a deep burgundy
is associated with tradition and
formality. Blue can evoke feelings
of trust, stability and reliability, so
a sophisticated navy might help to
inspire all-round confidence.

into the background
rather than shouting from
the walls,” explains Fiona.
When choosing a
colour, look at what else
will be in the room. A
moodboard can help
ensure all the finishes and
key pieces sit together
harmoniously before
committing to a colour.
“It can even help you find
your wall colour – the
beautiful green used on
the walls is echoed in the
artwork,” says Fiona.
The natural theme
continues with blond
wood, a jute rug, rattan
pendant and potted
plants – plus an added
touch of brass in the floor
lamp for glamour.
